Since the onset of the pandemic, there has been a myriad of initiatives to ensure that research related to COVID-19 is made rapidly and broadly available. To examine the extent to which this promise has resulted in the adoption of open science, the Research and Instruction (R&I) team at Lane Medical Library is conducting a research project to assess the openness of publications describing the results of randomized control trials for interventions designed to prevent or treat COVID-19.

In this session, John Borghi, project lead and manager of the R&I team, will present their methods and preliminary results and will discuss how the project has served as a mechanism for the team to get first-hand experience putting open science into practice.

The Bay Area Open Science Group is intended to bring together students, faculty, and staff from the Stanford, UCSF, and Berkeley community to learn about open science, discuss the application of open science practices in a research context, and meet other members of the community who are interested in (or already are) incorporating open science practices into their work.
