Bay Area Open Science Group - January Meetup

The Open Science Reading Group is intended to bring together members of the Stanford Medicine community to learn about open science, discuss the application of open science practices in a biomedical context, and meet other members of the community who are interested in (or already are) incorporating open science practices into their work.

This month the Bay Area Open Science Group is learning about project-based training in reproducible and open science methods for undergraduates!

In 2021, the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute piloted a "Rigor and Reproducibility Side-Projects" initiative as part of their Undergraduate Summer Research Program. Sixteen undergraduate students participated in four Meta-Research projects using open science methods. In this session, Adrienne Mueller from Stanford will describe the structure of the side-projects initiative, its outcomes, and the benefits and challenges of using this practical approach to learning.
