Zotero Essentials: Collect, Organize, and Cite Your Sources

Zotero is a free reference management tool that helps researchers collect, organize, annotate, and cite sources throughout the research and writing process. During this 75-minute interactive class,  participants will learn how to set up Zotero, use the Zotero Connector, save citations from databases and websites, attach and annotate PDFs, organize references into collections, and select citation styles. The session will also introduce Zotero’s word processor integration so participants can insert citations and generate bibliographies while writing in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. The session is designed for new Zotero users as well as those who have used Zotero casually and want a more efficient, organized workflow.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Set up Zotero and the Zotero Connector for collecting and managing citation information.
  2. Import references from databases, websites, and other sources using multiple methods.
  3. Organize citations and PDFs using collections, tags, notes, and basic library management strategies.
  4. Attach, read, and annotate PDFs within Zotero.
  5. Use Zotero with Microsoft Word or Google Docs to insert citations, change citation styles, and create bibliographies.

Please note: This class will be held via Zoom. The instructor will send the Zoom link 24 hours before the session.
