Do you understand the metrics commonly used to measure research impact? In “Understanding Research Metrics,” you will be introduced to the varied landscape of research metrics. Commonly used author, article, and journal-level metrics will be introduced. This class will cover the use of research metrics in formal and informal evaluations, how to locate research metrics using Lane’s resources, how to verify your author metrics are accurate, and responsible use of research metrics for your impact goals.
 
After attending this class, you will be able to:

  • Describe Commonly used Author, Article, and Journal level research metrics.
  • Articulate the strengths and limitations of commonly used research metrics.
  • Utilize research metrics tools available at Lane Medical Library.
  • Verify the data sources that inform your personal author metrics are accurate.
