Deciding Where to Publish

Deciding which journal to submit your manuscript to can be a difficult process. There are many journal factors to consider before you make the choice such as the aim/scope/audience, quality and impact, visibility, open access policy, acceptance rate, and peer-review process. This class provides resources and tools useful for identifying appropriate and quality journals for submission for your own research.

After attending this class, you will be able to:

  • Utilize journal metrics tools available at Lane Medical Library to inform your submission decisions.
  • Identify and interpret publisher Open Access policies.
  • Assess journal quality using a variety of measures.
